New Pattern

I am going to change the pattern for my mom’s tank. She wanted a sleeveless tank with lace, and after I started to examine the one I made from Verena Magazine I decided to change it. I want to enjoy my knitting, not detest the pattern. So I decided to make the Summertime Shell from Creative Knitting July 2008. The pattern has already pissed me off because there was a mistake in the first row! I am ok now. I just have to unravel and start over again.

Finished the Giant Granny Square Afghan

It took me a week, and now I am finished with the granny square blanket I made using all of my Red Heart scrap yarn.

I love the way it came out, and so does my family. I completed all the squares yesterday, and I sewed the pieces together both yesterday and today. The finishing touch was adding a black border all the way around, so that it will have a framed look. I didn’t make it too big, since I ran out of so much of the yarn.
My sister in law is going to have a boy in July, and I think I will make a similar blanket for him in April or May I have to buy the yarn first.

Next, I will devote myself to my scarf front cardi, which I completely forgot about this week. After I finish that, I will start swatching for my mother’s Sleeveless Tank.

2009 Update

Okay so far in 2009 I have made a lot.  Mostly gifts, though.  First, my favorite, Peanut’s Spidey Afghan.  I got the pattern off ravelry, and I used the recommended yarn and changed my colored rounds a bit.

Next, my yarn bee shawl for my mom.  I made up the pattern.  Very easy.

Oh, the socks I made for myself and then gave to my mom.  The mistakes in the yarn frustrated me, and I can’t bear to keep these.  Thank You sucky sock yarn, you have made me detest sock knitting!

Next my Nubby Cardigan from Knitscene Fall 2008.  This one took a while to make since I moved homes a lot when I was making it.

My Sleeveless Shell from Verena Summer 2008.  I started making this as soon as I got the magazine, but put it aside to knit winterwear.  I just did the finishing and blocking about a week ago.  This is a pic before it was actually blocked. The day I wear it, I will definitely take a picture.  My mom was such a fan of it that she asked me to make her one, too.  I think I will have hers done by mother’s day.  Maybe.  First I want to finish my giant granny square blanket.

Here are some fun toys I crocheted up for Peanut.  Easter eggs, which he didn’t really like, and doughnuts, which he loved.  I made the doughnuts using the free doughnut pattern on lionbrand.com

I made this tote out of a lot of scrap yarn  I hated it at first, but now I love this bag.  I love it so much that I am using it as my project bag.

I think it looks even nicer in person

Finally, my hand/wrist warmers from Last Minute Knitted Gifts.  I thought I would get use out of them, but I made them when it started getting warmer outside.  I don’t think there has been one cold night since I have made them.  It’s okay, I will use them in the fall.

Okay, I think that is it.  Wow, I sure have a lot of leftover yarn… Hopefully my giant granny square afghan will fix this problem.  After all, my hubby can’t use the excuse that I have too much yarn, if there isn’t any yarn left.

Hats Hats and More Hats

Last Year I made a lot of hats!  Let’s see, I made myself a striped watchman cap, a cabled newsboy cap, and a crocheted cloche.  I also made a cabled newsboy cap for my mother, but I gave it to her before I got to take a picture of it.  I made Peanut, my son, two hats, one with a garter brim and the other with a ribbed brim.  Okay, I think that is all the hats I made.  Here are some pics…

I’m Going to Try

Last year when I started to knit I immediately got to blogging.  But so much happened this last year!  I moved, lost internet access, and even stopped knitting so much!  Well, now I am back at my own place, and I have internet again!  I tried the twitter thing, but it just wasn’t my thing.  I am on ravelry as Topacio and I have all the older stuff I’ve knitted on there.  Slowly I will post my recent projects on my blog.  I will Probably start with my oldest projects and of course I will blog about my recent WIPs.

Right now I have 2 projects going.  I am making a Scarf Front Cardi from Knit.1 spring/summer 2008 with Bernat Satin Sport yarn.  I have completed the back, and now I just need to work on the scarf front part.

I am also working on a crocheted giant granny square afghan.  I am using  a big bag of acrylic worsted weight yarn, mostly Red Heart.  I have so much scrap yarn, and I am not in the mood to make hats.

I will post pics later.  Right now I am starving and am going to throw a pizza in the oven.  Yummmm.
